I have been to Houston only twice and the first time was a very short trip. Recently, my second visit was met with “de ja vu”, Market Street, a fashion and restaurant mecca situated in The Woodlands an affluent suburb of Houston. I remember it well. The “park like” feel, the amazing shops, the food. Here I am again and this time I am with Lauren Olson, PA-C owner Radiance Aesthetics Med Spa. “I’ve been here before!” I exclaim as we drive through Market Street while she gives me a tour of the surrounding areas of her business. It is a hard-to-forget place and I note to myself that next time I return it will be with plenty of time to shop and hang out. This time it is all business and another very short trip.
As we continue the tour, she is telling me the story of Hurricane Harvey and its effect on the economy, even to this day. I imagine the water, the flood and the devastation as I surmise the beautiful homes, the waterways, the landscape and the businesses. “It is hard to find a contractor” she says of the construction labor pool, much of whom is still busy re-building. The oil business is off and the economy is recovering, but slowly. As a business owner, I am sympathetic (she is grateful that the only damage she had was a sign that took nearly 9 months to replace due to insurance bureaucracy) and I learn that her business is back and in a strong way. “People are spending again”.

As I get to know Lauren, I learn of her background and struggle with adult acne that inspired her to get into the business. Back 15 years ago lasers and AHA peels were just becoming “a thing” and as a Certified Physician Assistant, she was on board, learning of the results driven services. After years of prescribing medicine that “feeds the disease” in a family practice, she became immersed with aesthetics and functional medicine. Her passion and expertise is beyond amazing. As Lauren gives me an in-depth tour of Radiance Med Spa, I deduce that she has a state-of-the-art facility, a talented staff and a results driven business, one that I would completely trust for myself even as I ask “Does the Cool-Sculpt really work?” Lauren smiles a knowing and reassuring smile. Another confidence builder and another note to self: willing to try.
As we continue the tour of her facility she asks “Do you have muscle spasms?” I respond to her question with a question “An occasional stress twitch beneath my eye, does that count?” She proceeds to tell me about the benefits of the Zimmer laser that enhances the Cool Sculpt results and also helps with cellulite. It also aids with muscle spasms as she demonstrates on my shoulder. This is one of 10 lasers throughout the facility. They also offer other services including facials, massage, Botox and fillers.
